After their extremely successful concert in December 2023 at the cult Parisian jazz club Sunset Sunside, on 25 January at 8 pm at Sofia Live Club Bulgarian music lovers will have the rare chance to hear together the magnificent Jivko Petrov and the guitarist Hugo Lippi.

The concert „Between Friends“ is the first meeting on stage of the two talented artists, known and appreciated in the world of jazz. They are linked by their ability to tell stories through notes, which makes the performances of their piano and guitar duo special, presented with particular finesse and class.

For the last 15 years Hugo Lippi has been one of the most appreciated guitarists in Europe. In 2020, he will receive the French Jazz Academy’s highest accolade, the 2019 Django Reinhardt Musician of the Year Award.

He has been playing guitar professionally since the age of 17 in various clubs and concert halls in Normandy. In 1998 he settled in Paris, where he quickly became one of the most recognizable musicians on the rue Lombard, legendary for its jazz clubs. Since the early 2000s, he has never stopped touring prestigious venues in Europe, Japan, Africa and America. He has played alongside world stars such as Sarah Mckenzie, Melody Gardot, Michel Legrand, Eric Legnini, Florin Niculescu, Marcel Azzol, Emmanuel Bex. He has worked with David Lynch for his film Inland Empire. He participated in the tour of La La Land under the baton of Justin Hurwitz, composer and Oscar winner for the film score.

Jivko Petrov is a composer, pianist and arranger. He is one of the most significant figures on the Bulgarian contemporary jazz scene. His music is distinguished by subtlety, elegance, lightness and refinement. As ethereal as it is generous in colours, nuances, images and emotions. In the last 20 years, he has been a founder and part of several jazz formations, playing alongside names from the world stage such as Sarah Brightman, Chico Freeman, Francesco Bearzatti, Natalie Cole, Natalie „The Floacist“ and others. The two musicians will give a concert in Bulgaria on January 25, at 8 pm at Sofia Life Club, which is also co-organizing the concert, produced by the Bulgarian Cultural Institute in Paris.
