Ruth Koleva is one of the most interesting musicians on Bulgarian pop and alternative scene. In March she announced that she might be quitting her career as a concert entertainer and is heading towards some new challenged. And here it comes!
Now she is organizing a huge event that will take place for three days in Sofia. The city becomes the center of new music from the Balkans. Selected bands and artists from Bulgaria and across the Balkan region will present their work live, in front of the eyes of world-renowned producers, major label representatives, record labels, content distributors and other key figures from the music industry. The series of concerts is part of the SoAlive Music Conference 2023 program, which will take place on 19, 20 and 21 October in Sofia and is called SoAlive Showcase Festival.
A few days ago the singer wrote on the web:
"Less than a week to go until the SoAlive Music Conference! It's less than a week until the SoAlive! Discover the future of music, innovation and culture, brought together in one place.
Get ready for unforgettable concerts, inspiring lectures and festival excitement!
Don't miss to be a part of this musical feast!
Tickets for the conference part are available at http://samc.bg
All concerts are free!"
The list includes nearly 40 names of artists from Bulgaria, Macedonia, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Greece, Albania, Turkey invited to participate in the concert program. Among them are Bulgarian groups Hayes&Y and Pistamashina, hip-hop star NDOE and performers NIYA and Vianne. For the SoAlive Showcase Festival will come dozens of bands from the Balkan Peninsula, who in recent years have revealed their potential to reach wide global popularity – among them are Pocket Palma (CRO), Hey!Douglas (TR), Oratniza (BG) and others.
An expert committee made up of producers, artists, authors and other professionals with extensive experience in the music business has researched and selected the names that will take part in the event. The list includes bands and artists with a variety of styles, from hip-hop and soul, to fusion and ethnic, to contemporary variations of electronic music that cuts across a variety of sub-styles.
"Getting to meet live with representatives from labels such as Ninja Tune, Global Records, Warner Music and others at the top of the world music scene is an extremely valuable moment for any artist. And the opportunity to present your talent and creativity live in front of such key figures is a charter flight to the global music scene," said Ruth Koleva, who is the organizer of SoAlive Music Conference 2023. "We have invited artists to participate from countries that are not even part of the European Union. The Balkans are a region with huge potential that needs a united effort in the field of cultural diplomacy, and the conference we are organising is working in exactly this direction," she added.
SoAlive Showcase Festival concerts are free to attend and start at 8 pm. The venues are Hall 2 of the National Palace of Culture, the special „Open Air Stage“ in the NPC underpass, Sofia Live Club and club MIXTAPE 5. Soon, the free app created especially for the conference will be available for download in the mobile app stores, where visitors will be able to easily get up-to-date information about the whole event. SoAlive Music Conference 2023 is organised with the financial support of the National Culture Fund, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Tourism and Musicautor.
